The annual Marxism conference, hosted by the UK Socialist Workers' Party, took place on 1-5 July in central London. Thousands of people attended the event, one of the biggest of its kind in the world, over its five days, with over a thousand packed into the Opening Rally on Thursday evening alone. More than 150 talks and workshops were held, with a huge range of guest speakers from around the world covering a wide array of themes, with comedy, music, poetry and theatre performances taking place in the evenings. The featured event was a discussion between Alex Callinicos, John Holloway and Slavoj Zizek on Saturday evening on 'The Idea of Communism', which saw queues of hundreds lining up to get inside. SoN editors Cihan Aksan and Jon Bailes attended the conference and conducted a number of interviews with some of the guest speakers.
